Job Description
Are you looking to start a career in IT and gain real-world experience?

Protek-IT seeks a Junior IT Support Specialist who is eager to learn and passionate about technology. You’ll receive training from experienced professionals to become self-sufficient and gain extensive IT expertise.

Position Summary:
As a Junior IT Support Specialist, you will provide Level I Technical Support for clients, assist with on-site deployments, and create technical documentation. While on-site, you’ll need to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently, all while keeping a friendly attitude and providing top-notch customer service. Critical thinking, clear communication, and working independently are key.

What we’re looking for:

  • Excellent customer service experience both on the phone and in-person
  • Any IT-related certification (e.g., Google IT Support, A+, Network+, MS-900) is preferred
  • Strong skills in setting up and troubleshooting PCs and Macs
  • Proven basic networking and general troubleshooting skills
  • A valid driver’s license with the ability to travel to client locations using the provided company car
  • A passion for technology and helping others
  • Dependability in managing tasks and meeting deadlines
  • Friendly and approachable, with great communication skills to build strong relationships with clients and team members

Your day-to-day as a Junior IT Support Specialist:

  • Resolve a variety of Level I technical issues, escalating tickets when necessary
  • Explain technical terms to clients in a simple, understandable way
  • Create technical documentation to facilitate faster ticket resolution
  • Conduct on-site appointments for device deployments and troubleshooting in the Chicagoland area while delivering great customer service with a friendly attitude

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assist team with on-site deployments and hands-on device pre-configuration
  • Remotely assist clients with level I technical issues, including:
    • Resetting/unlocking email and domain passwords
    • On- and offboarding user accounts
    • Installing and troubleshooting network printers and scanners
    • Deploying and troubleshooting Windows and macOS systems
    • Configuring client-specific applications (e.g., Outlook)
    • Configuring and troubleshooting VPN connections
  • Preparing PCs or Macs for on-site deployment
  • Create technical documentation to streamline and speed up ticket resolution
